The volume begins with an overview of the field, followed by five contributions that explore the ways in which discourse analysis fits together with the fields of information and communication sciences and political science, ＂at the meeting point between the symbolic and the social.＂ The remaining contributions explore the relationships between discourse analysis and the disciplines which have been more traditionally associated with the field, including literary studies, history, psychoanalysis, and philosophy.
